Chemical Caution

You made life so beautiful
When here in my hands
And as for our future
I'd made so many plans

Such grace and talent
For someone so small
I loved to watch
As you danced 'cross my wall

But I didn't treat you
The way that I should
And I'd take it back
If only I could

You've fallen victim
As so many do
To a chemical fate
That I brought you to

I remember your hair
It was flowing and silky
Look at it now
Its matted and sticky

I did all I could
But in the end
It just wasn't enough
The damage to mend

I'll never forget you
Though this is goodbye
On your way to the big
Easel in the sky

I've learned a hard lesson
Next time I'll decline
To leave my brush soaking
In a glass of turpentine
